Final demo of the session, and another Bogside Flats.
I think this is a better one than last night. More detail in the hills, braver in execution.
I am really enjoying this colour thing I am working on. I am also learning loads about brushmarks and thickness of paint. How the marks are made and left to sit are important aspects of the finish. For instance, it’s difficult to describe, but I was making the marks in the foreground water and had a few attempts at it but I made one sweep across at one point and immediately there was consensus that it was finished. There were a few in the group and myself who simultaneously expressed “that’s it!”. I couldn’t tell you why , but we knew it worked at that point. A harmony of strokes came together.
