The Waitress

Waitress

“The Waitress”. I have been meaning to paint this study for some time. My hand was forced as we have an open weekend at the Courtyard Studios and not having much in the way of new work, I executed it quite quickly to fill a gap. Apart from the face, most of this is painted in one layer on white. The paint is quite opaque, therefore, to show solidity. The grouting has just been left as breaks in the olive colour, showing the bare canvas. Not what I would usually choose to do as it could be looked at as unfinished, but I am satisfied it does the job. I may paint it again, in the way I would have with more time, but then again I probably wont! 🙂

  1. Once again another lovely painting! I love the brush strokes with the different tonalities creating the depth of the creases of the shirt and her expression. The tile work looks great and actually I like the canvas showing through for the grout lines, grout lines are rough anyways 🙂 . Fantastic!

  2. I don’t think you should paint it again.
