Mary in the Frame

Mary framed

The painting was delivered today all framed up. A framer was recommended to me that could offer a hand painted and gilded thing. It is a beauty and I think it sets off the picture really well. Built up and sanded down from layers of gesso, it has those nice rounded edges.

The timing of it is fortunate cause I have an Open Studio weekend coming on the 4th and 5th. So I will have it on show before it has to go to it’s new home. I could gladly hold on to this one!

  1. WOW! Absolutely stunning! Congrats on a job well done.

  2. The frame makes it even more stunning.

  3. You are really quite talented. One thing to be an artist who does wonderful landscapes, quite another to capture the essence of a person with paint. Bravo!

  4. David, Mary is an incredible piece of art – the frame is a perfect choice. Congratulations on this stunning painting, you’ll earn many accolades and recognition with this work.

  5. Yes, the frame does the painting real justice.
    Beautiful work.

  6. Great Job; Great Model; Great Frame

  7. This is fabulous

  8. I do believe that the digital age and blogging are at least a great boon in having not only made documentation of art easier and more quickly done for ourselves but also for sharing. As much as I can completely understand how happily you would keep this beauty, it’s grand to know that you will have the memory of it available in a more concrete form at the click of a key, that the rest of us who may never see it in person have the same wonderful access, and that—best of all—you have the trump card of not needing *any* technology to revisit the graces of the model! 🙂

    • Ha, yes, the model is not far away.
The painting is indeed always available on screen, but this is one of those that has a presence in the flesh that stops me in my tracks .I haven’t really experienced that before! Anyway, it is great these days to be able to share the works so easily and so far flung! Thanks Kathryn.

  9. par excellence David – you ‘ol Pre-Raphaelite you!! I bow to your superiority!!
