William’s landscape

Williams landscape

A new student and another talented beginner comes into the studio.

I am getting used to seeing complete beginners outpaint most of us! This is William’s oil painting of a previous demo subject of mine. He assures me (I am not suggesting he is fibbing, by the way) that this is his first attempt at painting. He watched the demo , I explained how to mix from a limited palette, showed him the materials and brushes and away he went and meticulously painted this lovely cloud study.

He is technically minded, coming from an engineering background. Reminds me of a previous post where I showed Harry’s first painting of his garden. Another technically wonderful painting for a first timer!

ps. The photo isn’t great, took it on my phone.
