Portrait – one of three – #1

I am painting Thomas, Hannah and Jake for a friend. This is Jake. Siblings to follow.
I was able to free up the paint application a wee bit here. Some loose brushwork with added palette knife scrapings and spreadings.
It’s refreshing to return to a sketchy look which is more relaxing and, as a bonus, it’s also much quicker to paint.

  1. Fantastic work Davy; looking forward to seeing the other two.

  2. Hi David,
was a victim of a variant of the dreaded lurgi before Xmas and new year and didn’t want to spread it about. I was planning to visit your studio tomorrow morning. Really admire your portrait of Jake, especially the use of a pallet knife.

  3. You are so immensely talented. Mad respect.

  4. Jake looks like a seriously engaging boy!
