Alison’s portrait, penultimate stage

One more go at this tomorrow and that will be that.

The background has changed a great deal. The initial idea , in colour terms, didn’t work. I had greys and ochres in a constructed abstract shape but the colour made the skin tones on the subject too hot( here is an earlier version). So changes were made, I altered the design to an Art Deco thing with these warm greens and a grey strip in the centre. I have the figure against a tall, airy structure now which puts less pressure on the head. A bit oppressive before.

More paint on the face again, my thin first time layer didn’t look strong enough. I prefer the opaque layer with visible brush strokes.

Just the locket to complete and a last look then away to the framers.
