David Donaldson exhibition

I went to see the David Donladson exhibition in the Maclaurin Gallery in Ayr at the weekend. A real painter putting on real bits of oil paint. Great to see. I was impressed by the boldness of the portraits and with the idea that they weren’t taken to a polished finish. These portraits, all painted from life I guess and mostly achieved from 5 or 6 sittings, are beautiful to look at. I dont think they reproduce as well in small scale, it is seeing them in the life that you can appreciate the life in the brush strokes.

The show is on till 8th May, may even go back next week.
